Throw out bearing noise? | EricTheCarGuy

I couldn’t hear the noise from your video but if the noise goes away when you push the clutch to the floor I would say it has a worn input shaft bearing. If it only goes away when you just rest your foot on the clutch pedal I would say a bad throw out bearing. It could last 5 years or 5 minutes. Worn parts can and will fail suddenly sometimes.

In some cases, the throw out bearing will make noises as you release the clutch. This is commonly caused by the center bearing grinding on the flywheel as it's moving towards the transmission. If you notice this sound, have a professional mechanic inspect or replace the throw out bearing.

Many bad clutch release bearings make no noise or very little noise until you load them by depressing the clutch pedal. But some techs insist on checking clutch release bearings by spinning them with their fingers. Don’t trust this method because you cannot adequately load a release bearing with your fingers. New clutchthrowout bearing making loud whining noise

I just put a new clutch in my 85 Nissan 720 4x4. The 1st couple of days the clutch worked well but now it is starting to make a loud whining noise when clutch is pushed in. I think it is the throwout bearing. It only happens when the engine is cold but then it stops after I drive it for awhile. W

Manual Transmission Pilot Bearing Diagnosis

A clutch release bearing is different; it makes a chirping or squealing noise as soon as the bearing touches the pressure plate's diaphragm. Note that release bearings make noise with much less pedal travel.

GREAT NEWS FOR THROWOUT BEARING / RELEASE BEARING ISSUES

The chirping / wine / whirl noise caused by the throwout/release bearing in 2nd gen V6 Tacoma's is caused by a simple engineering issue. The bell housing is made out of aluminium and the bearing is made out of steel. With time the bearing will always cause gouges and marks in the pilot shaft that will cause the chirping and noise issues.

Had the same exact noise when I bought my 98 mustang, push in clutch and it goes away. I figured it was the throw out bearing, when I had a look at it, half of it was missing lol so yes I think its the throw out bearing, and I would also like to mention that it is something that you want to look at fairly soon since that can mess up your clutch.
